I began my Work as Turkey bureau chief at AFP on 1 September 2016. 48 years old. For four years before coming to Turkey I was regional editor-in-chief for the Middle East and North Africa, based in Nicosia. For the previous three years, I served as head of the Arabic service and deputy to the regional editor-in-chief. Fluent in Arabic, French and English, graduate of the Higher School of Journalism (ESJ) in Lille, I joined AFP in 1994 in Jerusalem, and then beginning in 1996 worked for the photo department and then on the French Desk in Nicosia. In 1999, I was appointed as correspondent in Dubai for four years, carrying out numerous assignments in the Gulf countries and in Yemen. From 2003 to 2009, I was responsible for coverage of the Palestinian territories, covering, in particular, the second Intifada and the death of and succession to Yasser Arafat. I also carried out several assignments in Iraq during the Saddam Hussein regime and the American-led invasion that overthrew him.
